Tires keep your car safely on the road, so proper tire maintenance is an important safety measure as well as good economics. A properly maintained tire will last longer and perform better. Hyack Excel Tire is an expert in tire care and we are happy to help you look after your tires.
Tire Pressure – We will check and adjust your air pressure… no charge.
Tire Wear Inspection – To a trained eye, tire wear can give early warning to front end problems. We will assess tire and front-end performance concerns for you… no charge.
Tire Rotation – We recommend rotating your tires and performing a tire safety check every 10,000 km.
Tire Repair – We can repair most tire punctures.
Your car should not pull to the left or right. Proper alignment means a smoother, more pleasant driving experience and also saves you money. When wheel alignment is checked on a consistent schedule, tires last longer and will prevent suspension problems down the road.
If you have a significant impact with a curb, encountered a large pot-hole at full speed or have otherwise jarred your wheels you may have thrown your alignment out. Come in and we can check it out for you.
Your brake system is one of the most vital safety components of your car. Overly worn brake pads are dangerous. If your brakes feel a little soft or if they are squeaking, it's time to get them checked out.
Brake pads are designed to "squeak" or make a grinding noise when they are near the end of their useful life. Checking out squeaking brakes as soon as possible could prevent permanent damage to your braking system and save expensive repair costs.
Hyack Excel Tire performs hundreds of break system repairs each year. Call us today to schedule an appointment and we will ensure your brake system is working well.
If your neighbours cringe when they hear your car coming or going, it may be time to get a new muffler or exhaust pipe.
Maintaining your exhaust system is not only a sound issue; it is more importantly a safety issue. The exhaust gases generated by your car need to be processed (by a catalytic converter) and delivered outside your car envelope.
Cars made after 1995 have a catalytic converter. A catalytic converter is used to convert toxic exhaust emissions from an internal combustion engine into non-toxic substances. "Inside a catalytic converter, a catalyst stimulates a chemical reaction in which noxious by-products of combustion are converted to less toxic substances by means of chemical reactions. The specific reactions vary with the type of catalyst installed." Wikipedia
Hyack Excel Tire will check for leaks in your exhaust system and make sure your catalytic converter is functioning well. Call us today to set up an appointment.
The cooling system in your car maintains the engine temperature within its optimum range. This will ensure the engine is operating at its most efficient level. If the cooling system fails, serious problems can occur, overheating can damage key components or ultimately cause engine seizure.
The cooling system includes the radiator, fan, water-pump, high-temp hoses and the flow of fluids throughout the engine block and heads. Each of these components exhibit unique symptoms in the event of breakdown or failure. We have the experience to recognize these signs when they present themselves.
Hyack Excel Tire can help you deal with any abnormal temperature issues, before it causes serious damage.
It is important to note that not all vehicles have both shocks and struts. Some have just struts and some vehicles have only shocks. Shocks are part of the overall suspension, and a strut is a complete suspension assembly.
The shock absorbers in your car aid in ride control by keeping the car manageable during regular driving. They do this by keeping the tires down on the road and not allowing them to bounce after hitting a bump.
The symptoms:
- Vehicle rolls or sways on turns
- Front end dives when braking or Rear end squats when accelerating
- Vehicle bounces or slides sideways on a winding, rough road
- Vehicle "bottoms out" (with a thump) on bumps
In addition, worn shocks and/or struts can accelerate the wear of your tires and suspension parts -- the ball joints, steering linkage, springs and C.V. joints.
Preventative checkups are the key to side-stepping the effects of worn shocks and/or struts.
Oil is the life-blood of your engine; it lubricates the moving parts, functions under pressure and at high temperatures. Over time, oil will break down and the oil filter will become full of bits of metal and sludge.
When you bring your car to Hyack Excel Tire for an oil change we will inspect your oil for signs of engine wear, drain and recycle the used oil, replace the oil filter and add an approved grade and weight oil suited for your car. During an oil change we will check your fluid levels (cooling system, transmission, steering, brake and differential lubricant), and have look at your braking system.
A Tune-up will bring your car's engine performance in-line with its manufacturer's specifications. Modern car engines are a collection of sophisticated systems, controlled by computers and sensors. Remember when a tune-up was plugs, points and condenser?
Hyack Excel Tire has the specialized equipment to plug in to your car; the training to use the equipment and experience to understand the results. We will ensure your engine operates as efficiently as possible. Give us a call today.
Automotive AC is basically a refrigerator, designed to move heat from one place to another, from the inside of your car to the outdoors. The power used by the AC is drawn from your car's engine; so a well-maintained AC system makes efficient use of your car's power and minimizes the costs of cooling your vehicle.
There are a number of legal regulations around the handling of AC refrigerant. These have grown in recent years with the understanding of the adverse effect that certain refrigerants have on the global environment (ozone layer). For example: 1) it is illegal to release refrigerant into the atmosphere; 2) it is illegal to add refrigerant into an AC system known to leak; and 3) it is illegal to charge or recharge an AC system with an ozone depleting substance (which older AC system may have been designed to use).
The type of refrigerant used in Automotive AC have made great advances in recent years, however this means the type of refrigerant your AC is designed to use may not be available due to regulation.
Servicing an Automotive AC is a complicated process. Hyack Excel Tire can get the job done for you; give us a call today.
Transmission fluid is designed to last a very long time, provided it is consistently held within its normal operating temperature.
An automatic transmission creates a lot of internal heat through friction: the friction of the fluid churning inside the torque converter, friction created when the clutch plates engage, and the normal friction created by gears and bearings carrying their loads.
Normal driving will raise fluid temperatures to 175 degrees F., which is the usual temperature range at which most fluids are designed to operate. But if the fluid temperature goes much higher, the life of the fluid begins to plummet. The problem is that even normal driving can push fluid temperatures well beyond safe limits. And once that happens, the trouble begins.
The Hyack Excel Tire service team can determine if your transmission fluid has started to breakdown and if so can make the necessary repairs.
